We live on Cedar Creek Lake in East Texas with a stray cat that deigned to allow us to fall in love with her. She appeared, hurt and hungry, shortly after we lost our old mutt of 16 years. One look and there was no turning back! Puddy-Tat is her name - thanks to Joe's sense of humor - Jan preferred "Mattie" but Puddy it is and Puddy it shall remain. Joe retired from the telecommunications industry in 2000. The first thing he did was buy a 750 Kawasaki motorcyle. Then came a Honda 1100 Gold Wing. . . a Harley Sportster . . . a Moto-Guzzi . . . a Honda 350 . . a Honda 450 . . . a Harley Electroglide . . . but he's now down to just the Hondas 350 & 450, the Goose, and the Electroglide. He enjoys making the Guzzi rallies in the US and the (almost) yearly trek to Sturgis, South Dakota. He also likes hunting on his deer lease in West Texas that yields great tasting venison and wild turkey. Jan loves roots - both horticultural and ancestral. She doesn't do motorcycles. Her belief is that everyone should own a Jeep Wrangler. Hers is specially outfitted to hold 10 hanging baskets or 12 flats of bedding plants. It will also hold 18 (2-cubic feet) bags of mulch. It carries all the cemetery cleaning supplies needed and can be hosed out when it gets dirty. It's a rough, bumpy ride, but it can handle those back roads when hunting for cemeteries. Just watch out for the mesquite thorns, they are not kind to tires. Last,
and best, we are the proud parents of a
very handsome, very intelligent son
- the light of our lives, the reason for it all. Now, if he'd
just get busy, find a wife and produce another generation! The
paddle boat is waiting! |
