| In this cemetery are buried the three daughters of Josiah Lester and Abigail (Simpson) Darby and their three half-sisters, daughters of Madison & Abigail (Simpson) Mumford. Josiah Lester Darby and his first wife, Susannah McCartney Small are Joe's ancestors through their son, Benjamin Franklin Darby. B. F. Darby settled near Peoria, Hill County, Texas and he is buried in Hickey Cemetery there. These six women were dressmakers and it is believed that the dresses worn by them in this picture are of their creation. |
